Agfa Graphics added the M2540i FB UV-inkjet flatbed to its Anapurna i-series at . One of four printers in the line, the M2540i offers multilayer printing in a single pass. And with reported production speeds up to 1000 sq ft/hr, it is the fastest – though not the largest – Anapurna to date (the M3200i is 126 in. wide, while the newest model is 100 in. wide). Intended for indoor and outdoor applications requiring rigid or sheet material, the printer accommodates corrugated boards, acrylic, mirrors, wood, aluminum, MDF, and other substrates up to 1.77 in. thick for applications from P-O-P and advertising panel projects to and .

The M2540i FB features welded steel beam construction; a vacuum table with nearly 11,000 holes; automated retractable media register pins for substrate positioning, and double-sided printing in particular; an ionization bar to remove electrostatic loads on the substrate; and safety sensors on the print carriage to prevent head strikes.

Compatible with the company’s Anapurna UV inks (CMYKcm+white), the newest Anapurna makes use of white ink as a spot color for highlights and for printing on back- and frontlit media. Low sedimentation and a separate white ink circulation system prevent printhead clogging and other issues, the company reports.

The Anapurna M2540i is compatible with rigid media up to 8.33 x 5.05 ft with a max. weight of 100 kg. Borderless printing up to 8.32 x 5.03 ft is also available for rigid and flexible media. The latter can be printed with a minimum thickness of 0.2 mm and at a max. width of 8.25 ft and length of 4.94 ft.

Reported productivity figures range from 1001 sq ft/hr in draft mode to 97 sq ft/hr in high-definition mode. Printheads include six Konica Minolta KM1024i printheads with 1024 nozzles/head and 13 pL drop size, as well as two white printheads of the same type with a 30 pL drop size. The M2540i is designed for print at resolutions up to 540 x 1080 dpi, and is compatible with Asanti software as well as third-party RIPs.
