The Agfa-Gevaert Group (Mortsel, Belgium) will acquire Inca Digital Printers (Cambridge, UK), a move that Agfa says will strengthen its position in high-speed digital printing and bring additional focus on packaging printing.

Inca is a developer and manufacturer of high-speed printing and production technologies for sign applications as well as for digitally printed packaging.

Agfa said the deal will help the company launch single-pass printing presses for the packaging market. The acquisition encompasses Inca’s fleet of existing high-speed, multi-pass printers; a newly designed line of single-pass printers for several packaging applications; and a customized in-line print engine developed in collaboration with corrugator manufacturer BHS Corrugated.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
