Agfa announced that it will co-market and co-brand the Epson Stylus Pro printers and Epson UltraChrome K3 inks together with Agfa’s SherpaProof label. SherpaProof-which has already achieved SWOP, Fogra, and 3DAP certifications-comprises: Agfa’s ApogeeX prepress production software, Agfa SherpaProof Base media, Agfa-certified Epson Stylus Pro printers, and Epson UltraChrome K3 inks to produce hard-copy proofs.

“While we continue to develop and manufacture our own UV-curable and other inks for the industrial-printing market, we prefer Epson technology to complete our portfolio with certified printers and inks to offer a system that meets the requirements of the graphic-arts industry for hard-copy proofing,” says Richard Barham, Agfa Graphics vice president of marketing.

The SherpaProof solutions will be available through Agfa’s distribution channel.

In addition, Xaar has approved Agfa Graphics’ Anuvia UV-curable inks (utilized on the M-Press) for use with its OmniDot 760 printhead. The printhead incorporates multi-pulse grayscale (variable drop size) technology.
