Agfa Debuts Grand Sherpa Universal AM

Agfa's :Grand Sherpa Universal AM utilizes
:Grand Sherpa Universal AM mild-solvent
inks, and is available in 65- and 90-
in. widths. It offers five print resolutions”?
from 360 x 360 to 1440 x 1440 dpi; and
print speeds including high-speed, production,
and high-quality.

Agfa reports that the :Grand Sherpa Universal
AM is twice as fast as its current
:Grand Sherpa Universal system. Billboard
production speeds [at lower resolution] are
the same at 431 sq ft/hr, but with improvements
in the inks and media handling,
photo- and sign-quality modes [higher resolution
modes] in the Universal AM are
twice as fast as the standard Universal.

The mild-solvent inks are available in
220-ml cassettes and can be configured
as 6-color CMYKcm or 2 x 4 CMYK. The inks
provide light stability for up to 3 years and
are water-, rub-, and scratch resistant.
Prints that will be subject to abrasion however,
may require lamination.

The :Grand Sherpa Universal AM also
features: four heaters for fast drying and
ink penetration on uncoated media; a
motorized media take-up system; and
heavy-duty media transport
system (standard on
90-in. model; optional on
65-in. model). This printer
does not come standard
with a RIP, but the Agfa
:ApogeeX RIP is recommended.
