Sihl Digital Imaging has announced an array of new media for aqueous printers. Its new environmentally “green” papers for aqueous includes three FSC-certified matte papers and three matte inkjet papers made from 100% post-consumer paper fiber.
• Sihl’s new FSC-Certified aqueous media include TrueColor 3331 (100 g/m2, 96% opacity), TrueColor 3333 (140 g/m2, 98% opacity), and TrueColor 3335 (180 g/m2, greater than 99% opacity) papers. All are coated, bright-white papers for display graphics that are instant-dry and feature a water-resistant matte coating. Sizes range from 24- to 60-in. wide and 150-ft. rolls, depending upon weight.
• The company’s IJ RecyColor line comprises two 100% post-consumer fiber, matte inkjet papers: RecyColor 3302 (90 g/m2) and RecyColor 3303 (125 g/m2); both feature water-resistant coatings, are chlorine-free, and use no optical brighteners. Available in 24-, 36-, and 50-in. x 150-ft rolls. Also available is IJ Recycled 3301, an 80 gsm matte inkjet bond paper designed for very light spot-color CAD inkjet prints, available in 24-, 36-, and 42-in. x 150-ft rolls.

Sihl also has debuted its new Vision line of clear films for aqueous, including four 4-mil polyester clear films designed for applications where optical clarity is critical. Vision 3161 and 3162 Clear Films are for low ink loads; 3161 features no side stripe; Sihl 3162 features a removable side stripe (so is compatible with printers that sense the media edge during loading, such as HP series printers). Vision 3163 Absolute Clear film is for high-end color keys and enables extremely fast dry times. All available in common sizes.

Sihl Outdoor Backlit Film 3181 is a 5-mil matte, front-print, outdoor, backlit film for aqueous designed for the production of outdoor-durable images that are fade resistant without lamination. Applications include outdoor signage, exhibit displays, trade show graphics, subway advertising, bus stop graphics, etc. Sihl 3181 can be overlaminated for added durability. Sizes: 36-, 44-, 50-, 54-, and 60-in. x 100-ft rolls.

Sihl SuperDry Light Box Film 3461 is a 7-mil satin, front-print, backlit, coated-polyester film with a rapid-dry, microporous, inkjet-receiver coating, designed to achieve a wide color gamut and very deep blacks with pigmented aqueous inks. Sizes: 36-, 42-, 50-, and 60-in. x 66-ft rolls.

The company offers two new SuperDry Rollup Films: Sihl SuperDry Rollup Film with Blockout 3172 is a 10-mil, co-extruded, white, polyester film with a 100% lightblock layer on the reverse to eliminate image washout caused by light diffusion. It’s ideal for tradeshow pop-up displays, photo reproduction, and other P-O-S displays and intended to pair with 10- or 15-mil overlaminates. Sizes: 36- and 50-in. x 100-ft rolls. Sihl SuperDry Rollup Film with Blockout 3170 is a 7-mil white-opaque, polyester film with a white-glossy finish and a co-extruded gray back for 100% light-block. Sizes: 36-, 44-, and 50-in. x 100-ft rolls.

Sihl SuperDry Opaque White Display Film 3171 is a 5-mil white, polyester film with a white-glossy finish, designed for tradeshow, photo reproduction, and other P-O-P displays; can be laminated with low-melt or pressure-sensitive laminates. Sizes: 36-, 44-, 50- and 60-in. x 100-ft rolls.
