Plaskolite to Acquire Manufacturing Facility in Mexico

Deal expands company’s acrylic sheet product offerings.

Plaskolite (Columbus, OH) has signed an agreement to acquire the land, buildings, and equipment of a facility in Matamoros, Mexico from Trinseo, a specialty material solutions provider.

The facility, located on 11 acres, specializes in the production of cell cast acrylic sheet, which serves a range of applications including display, signage, construction, marine, and sanitary products.

The proposed transaction is expected to close in the next few weeks, Plaskolite said in its announcement of the deal.

Plaskolite says the acquired facility is in an advantageous location, enabling the company to better serve the North American market and offer a full suite of acrylic sheet technologies – extruded, continuous cast, and cell cast. The facility, the announcement says, also complements Plaskolite’s existing cell cast operations in Gerona, Spain.

Product shipments from the Matamoros plant are expected to begin in the second half of 2023.

“We look forward to expanding our North American footprint with the acquisition of this highly strategic facility,” Ryan Schroeder, president and CEO of Plaskolite, said in the announcement. “This facility will strengthen our product offering for our customers, who value an extensive range of manufacturing methods. We are excited to better serve our customers with this acquisition.”

Plaskolite manufactures a range of engineering thermoplastics, including acrylic, polycarbonate, ABS and PETG sheet, lighting profiles, and PMMA polymers. It’s owned by Pritzker Private Capital, an investment firm based in Chicago.
