Leggett & Platt Digital Will Sell Direct

3M will continue to support inks, materials, qualification, and software

Leggett & Platt Digital Technologies and 3M have agreed to a new, non-exclusive agreement for marketing and sales of L&P's line of digital printers. As a result of this new arrangement, L&P will now handle the promotion of its line of printers under its Virtu brand name and the company will sell directly to the graphics market. 3M will continue to support inks, materials qualification, and software for these printers, and will assist L&P in selling printers into the graphics marketplace.

“The new agreement allows for a more flexible arrangement designed to meet customer needs and pricing in the current marketplace,” says Burl White, L&P Digital Division president.

The 3M Printer 2500UV, manufactured by L&P, will now be sold under Leggett & Platt's Virtu brand name. 3M says that it reserves the right to authorize any machines sold as Scotchprint machines, and remains committed to supporting its current customer base.

“These customers are supported by 3M Commercial Graphics Division and L&P. Furthermore, these customers are still Scotchprint-authorized per the current program, and can purchase inks, materials, and software from 3M and authorized distributors,” says 3M.

L&P Digital also has announced that it will host an open house at its Fort Lauderdale, FL factory, July 6-30, to show off the company's new Virtu FX flatbed printer as well as its enhanced Virtu Plus flatbed/roll-to-roll model. Both machines now feature new price points. (Leggett & Platt Digital Technologies,; 3M,
