Kornit Digital CEO Talks Sustainability at New York Fashion Week 2022

Kornit Digital CEO Ronen Samuel presented at last week’s FashionInnovation World Wide Talks series during New York Fashion Week 2022 to spread the word about Kornit Digital’s latest offerings for the fashion industry

Samuel began his talk by giving the viewer a rundown on some important fashion industry statistics. For instance, 30 percent of all apparel is sold through ecommerce, and with Gen Z’s desire to express themselves with customized apparel, that number will only continue to rise.

He also reiterated a point that was made known to attendees of Kornit’s London Fashion Week, which is that fashion is the second most polluting industry on earth (20 percent of all water pollution comes from fashion, along with 10 percent of global carbon emissions).

Samuel expressed how the current fashion supply chain is broken, with the supply being produced before the demand even exists in some cases. He reports that Kornit on-demand printing technologies can solve this problem by creating locally printed, made-to-order products and eliminating excess production (30 percent of Chinese apparel production is excess production).

Samuel ended his talk detailing how Kornit on-demand printing technology can also help designers and brand houses push their seasonal items in a timelier and more environmentally friendly way. On a broad scale, it could eliminate the need for fashion forecasting six months in advance.
