HP has expanded its large-format portfolio of media for the Designjet printers. New are HP Two-view Cling UV media, HP Instant-dry Indoor Banner Gloss, HP Universal Instant-dry Photo Gloss and Semi-Gloss, and HP Premium Plus line of media. In addition, for the Designjet 130/30 HP now offers 6-color dye ink cartridges (CMYKcm) and printheads.

Two-view Cling UV–9.8-mil reverse-print film, which features low-tack adhesive and comes in 42-in. rolls. It resists fading, even in windows, for several years (25 years indoor and 36 months+ in a commercial window) when used with HP UV inks. HP recommends lamination for wet-rub and handling.

Instant-dry Indoor Banner Gloss–10-mil, glossy synthetic banner material. It is designed to deliver photo-realistic output, have a high-quality look and feel, drape without curling, and be water-and tear-resistant. Its lightfastness is greater than 5 years indoor when printed with dye inks, and it is available in 50-in. rolls.

Universal Instant-dry Photo Gloss and Semi-gloss–7.4-mil photo paper that can be used for presentation graphics, displays, art reproduction, and photo enlargements. Its instant dry time allows for immediate handling, laminating, and mounting. It accepts both hot and cold lamination, and is available in rolls from 24- to 60-in. wide.

Premium Plus Photo Satin–11.3-mil satin photo and proofing media for the creation of portfolios, comps and proofs, tradeshow displays, and P-O-P graphics. It resists fading for 70+ years indoors, features high image quality and color stability, and is available in 24-in. rolls. Also offers Premium Plus Photo and Proofing Gloss.

HP is introducing a new printer for medium- and large-size print companies–the Indigo Press 5000. Available in late 2004 or early 2005, the Indigo 5000 will be designed for increased volume and cost-effective productivity of personalized, real-time marketing materials.

In addition, all of the HP Series II presses (Indigo 5000, 3050, w3200, ws4000, and s2000) have been Pantone-licensed, which ensures color consistency with the more than 1100 Pantone colors. (Hewlett-Packard: www.hp.com)
