Durst Image Technology has introduced its Rhotex 320, an “industrial” inkjet printer designed for the textile/soft signage markets, as well as the Rho 750 UV printer.
The 10.5-ft-wide Rhotex 320 utilizes water-based dispersed dye inks and onboard hot-air dryers on a printing platform designed to deliver P-O-P-quality output at up to 775 sq ft/hr (645 sq ft/hr in High-Resolution mode), and a top resolution of 600 dpi. The printer is available in 4-color standard (CMYK), or in an optional configuration of CMYKcm + light black and/or spot colors.
The Rhotex features the company’s Quadro Array printhead technology (30-pl, 1024 nozzles/color) and an external Caldera RIP server with GrandRIP+ software (with Adobe Creative Suite 5 integration).
Additional features include: an inline ink dryer positioned ahead of the takeup roll to prevent smudging and sticking; an automated capping station that covers all heads automatically when the sled is in “park,” to eliminate ink evaporation; an integrated ink-absorbing system to keep inks from penetrating through the media; an anti-static system; and more.
The Rhotex 320 will be available in early Q4 2010.
The Rho 750 is a UV flatbed printer that can achieve output speeds of more than 1930 sq ft/hr. It’s available in three models: Basic, Presto, and HS, depending upon the user’s productivity requirements. All three versions feature Durst Quadro 30D array printhead technology, a top resolution of 600 dpi, and feature a color roster of CMYKcm plus a process color addition of O+V/O+G, white, and varnish. Maximum print width is 80 in.; max media thickness is 1.58 in. or 2.75 in.
The three model designations represent increased number of printheads and speeds: the Basic can reach speeds of 538 sq ft/hr, the Presto 1076 sq ft/hr, and the Rapid/HS 1938 sq ft/hr. Both the Basic and Presto models are upgradeable.
