Creo has updated its Darwin VI variable-data authoring tool to Version 1.5 for both Mac and Windows operating systems. The plug-in enables Adobe InDesign CS and CS2 software users to design, author, and manage personalized, full-color variable-information documents such as direct mail, reports, and brochures. New features include multiple-type, barcode creation, color rule, preflighting, auto-fitting, and multiple-output formats support.

Creo also has integrated DirectSmile”?s image-personalization software into the new version of Darwin VI, helping users to extend VDP capabilities by allowing them to create personalized images.

In addition, the company has announced that DirectType software, from Deutsch Technologies, can now be used with the Darwin VI authoring tool. Darwin and DirectType can be used together to design image fonts.
