Canon has added six new models to its imageProGraf line: the 36-in. iPF785 and iPF780 models; the 24-in. iPF685 and iPF680 models; and two large-format imaging systems, the iPF785 MFP M40 and iPF780 MFP M40. Designed for faster printing and lower operational expense, the machines are intended for GIS Graphics, technical drawings, renderings, signs, and posters. These devices offer faster printing speeds and lower operation costs as compared to their predecessors, the company reports.

New features include a reformulated magenta ink, designed to improve color-rendering on reds and yellows; larger, 30-mil ink tanks for lower cost-per-print; increased scan length (up to 315 in. for PDF or JPG or 590 in. for TIFF files); and faster printing and scanning speeds, which include 13 in./sec for the M40 scanners (monochrome; 1200 dpi max. resolution) and Arch D-size print output in up to 21 or 25 sec, depending on model.

The company says its sub-ink tank system allows for more efficient use of its 5-color dye/pigment inks, depleting the entire tank before registering as empty. iPF785 and iPF685 models include 320 GB internal hard drives for file processing and storage.

The new printers include Canon's PF-04 print head, which has 15,360 nozzles, as well as its Direct Print & Share 2.0 and SmartWorks MFP software.
