PicsToBits has released ActionDex 1.0, a tool designed to help Adobe Photoshop users better organize and manage that software's Action features, which combine image-manipulation tools into scripted sequences.

By using a hierarchy of user-defined categories (not unlike the folders in Windows Explorer), ActionDex users can organize their Photoshop Actions into logical, task-based groupings to reflect their own personal work style. Actions can be placed in multiple categories, and users can add notes to keep track of favorite settings, tips, etc. Predefined fields allow for tracking of the Action author, download location, description, and user assigned rating. In addition, ActionDex can generate and associate a preview image with Actions, allowing for easy visualization of what each Action does.

Available for Photoshop 7.0 or CS for Windows 98/ME/NT/2000XP; a Mac version is not yet available. Cost: $29.95; a full-featured evaluation version is available. (PicsToBits, www.picstobits.com)
