We visited the NBM Show in Indianapolis this June where Jay Busselle, Idea Custom Solutions, offered his social media expertise for PSPs. Here are five takeaways from the educational session to spark your social engagement:

1. Content builds conversation builds community. Social media isn’t about making a sale, it’s about molding your brand and crafting a relationship with a network of existing and potential customers.
2. Who is your perfect customer? When building and engaging with your audience, imagine that ideal client, and target this person with your content.
3. Can you solve their problem? This is what your social media community wants to know. “Sell the hole, not the drill,” as they say.
4. The most impactful way to gain new customers is by word of mouth. Use the gossip train to your advantage. First step: Create happy customers. Second: Incentivize them to share their happy stories.
5. Affiliate with the experts. Fifty-one percent of people are influenced by a trusted group or organization. If you align yourself with experts, you will be viewed as one.
