Virginia Beach, VA has issued 97 violations to Oceanfront businesses as part of a crackdown on signage ordinances, WTVR CBS 6 News reports.

The city cited 74 businesses for window signage violations. Officials say the increased enforcement, which began toward the end of the summer with the removal of vulgar T-shirts from shop displays, is part of an effort to improve Oceanfront’s appearance and prepare for upcoming investments in the Atlantic Ave. The crackdown comes as vendors are struggling, according to a business owner interviewed by WTVR.
