Iconography has a reputation for saying “yes” to “unusual requests.” Tell us about a few of the coolest projects you’ve worked on. How has that reputation contributed to your success?

My shop was one of the first in our area to offer vehicle graphics and wraps. We’ve distinguished ourselves not only for innovative vehicle graphic designs, but also for being adventurous in the kinds of wrap projects we’re willing to tackle. Early on, we wrapped unusual items including huge cardboard replicas of sticks of butter, as well as trashcans, mailboxes, gun safes, hockey sticks, an airplane, and all kinds of musical instruments – drums, a violin, an accordion, and a piano. We’ve even wrapped medical devices. Our team really enjoys the unusual projects and figuring out how to tackle them. It certainly keeps things interesting!

Iconography was part of the Downtown Long Beach redevelopment effort, working with local artists and museums to produce window and building graphics for the downtown area. How has that beautification effort impacted your community? How has your relationship with the community benefited your shop?

We created window and building graphics from images donated by the Long Beach Arts Council, the Long Beach Museum of Art, and the Museum of Latin American Art. We wrapped the fronts of vacant buildings throughout the downtown area with beautiful graphic reproductions. We’ve also donated window wraps to Downtown Long Beach schools. Due to this work, we’ve been able to develop additional customer relationships in the Long Beach area, such as working for the Long Beach Public Library to wrap all of their book deposit bins. We have also been able to support nonprofits and community organizations in the area, like The Lab Learning Space, an alternative education school located in Downtown Long Beach, by donating signage.
