When businesses begin to reopen in Nevada, safety in casinos will be a main concern. Although Nevada governor Steve Sisolak has not set a date for reopening, Las Vegas-based PSP Screaming Images (screamingimages.net) has begun developing a safety shield that can be used on table games and slot machines. James Swanson, Screaming Images principal and Big Picture magazine Editorial Advisory Board member, is overseeing the task of getting the clear acrylic dividers made to separate the players from various games.
“It’s us trying to take care of our existing customers,” Swanson told The Las Vegas Review-Journal. “It’s also us trying to keep busy [during the shutdown] and come up with innovative ideas and introduce them to the properties. It’s basically a team effort between everyone in the city.”
According to Swanson, the clear acrylic that Screaming Images is using for the safety shields doesn’t fog up, is easy to clean, and can be assembled in about 15 minutes, in most cases. The installation doesn’t involve screws, so no damages to tables or machines will occur, and the shields are recyclable as they will be a temporary fixture. They have been testing the shields at El Cortez, a longstanding property in Las Vegas. The print shop has also been pitching the shields to other properties in the city because the acrylic shields could also be used at other businesses, like restaurants.
