Mimaki has now made its JV5-320S printer available as a direct-sublimation model: the 320DS.
Built on the 320S framework, the 128-in. rollfed 320DS uses eco-friendly aqueous inks (CMYKcm) for a direct dye-sublimation printing process and includes a modification kit that features a “ditch,” or automatic drainage system designed to act as a gutter for ink run-off (which can penetrate through a materials like flag or mesh with loose weaves).
Like all other JV5 models, the 320DS boasts a staggered-head array of four printheads for high-speed printing; Mimaki’s automatic nozzle-failure detection; an uninterrupted ink-supply system; a heavy-duty media-feeding system; automatic registration for double-sided prints; and more. A RasterLink Pro III RIP is standard.
Designed for banners, flags, P-O-P, tradeshow fabric graphics, and the soft-signage market, the JV5-320DS features a top resolution of 720 x 1440 dpi and a top speed of 645 sq ft/hr (4 colors, 540 x 720 dpi, 4 passes).
Price: $119,995. The DS adapter kit, for existing JV5-320S printers, is priced at $14,995 (Mimaki installs onsite).
