There’s not enough beer and pizza in the world that could persuade me to help anyone move for at least the next year.

In the last three weeks, I moved out of my two-bedroom apartment in Cincinnati to my boyfriend’s four-bedroom home in Louisville to our new studio in San Francisco. I’d rather not add up the amount of boxes, donations, random sales in parking lots from the LetGo app, trunk-loaded drives to Kentucky, flights, checked bags, phone calls with movers… OK, you get the idea.

Realizing how much stuff you’ve accumulated over the years and how much time, money, and sanity it takes to get it from A to B (and C, in my case) is overwhelming.

But I’m definitely not alone. 2018 seems like the year of the move. Many of our Editorial Advisory Board members have relocated and a plethora of manufacturers have expanded or built brand-new facilities. And congratulations to you all! The need for more space, more employees, and more machines comes from a much sought-after increase in job orders and revenue.

And while I struggled with moving a few rooms’ worth of clothes and kitchen supplies, your struggle is much greater: How are you going to get your superwide printer into the third floor of your new shop in Manhattan? What do you do when your team needs three weeks to tear down, move, and set up your machines, but the print orders aren’t slowing down? And what do you say to your employees who now have a 50-minute commute instead of five?

The moving process isn’t easy. Luckily, we have a strong community that’s always happy to share tips and tricks with its fellow PSPs. If you’ve recently packed up and shipped out, or have questions about a big move, send me a tweet or an email and we’ll cover it in our last issue of the year.

After all, pizza and beer does sound pretty good.
