SOME OF YOU MAY be surprised to see me here. If you haven’t heard, I’m no longer the editor-in-chief of Big Picture and Screen Printing magazines. After 10-plus years, I’m moving on from magazine publishing. I’ve accepted a position in the direct-to-film space at DTF.com. I will continue sitting on the U.N.I.T.E. Together and Women in Print Alliance boards, so I will still very much be involved in the industry and I look forward to working with you all in some way, shape, or form.

This edition, highlighting the annual Women in Wide Format Awards, is one of my favorites. We launched the awards eight years ago because we wanted to level the playing field, show young women there are incredible career paths in wide-format digital print, and recognize female leaders in this industry. It’s one of the brand initiatives I’m most proud of, and I’m looking forward to celebrating the six winners at Printing United in Atlanta on October 19 at 4 p.m. at the Future State Theater.

I hired Matt Danford in January as managing editor of both brands. Matt’s first industry tradeshow was ISA Sign Expo in Las Vegas. He dove in headfirst, asking the right questions and filling his notebook with tips and trends.

Since my departure, Matt has stepped in and stepped up as the leader of the brand. Matt is one of the most impressive content editors I’ve ever worked with, and he is a fellow Ohio University E.W. Scripps School of Journalism alum. I can promise you, you’re in good hands.

Matt and the Big Picture team will be at booth #C1052 at Printing United. Please say hi, introduce yourself, and welcome him to the industry with open arms as you did for me in 2012.

Thank you to everyone who has shared industry insight with me and helped grow the brand to where it is today, specifically Lou Arneberg. Lou has been instrumental in Big Picture’s success. We’ve accomplished a lot together in the last decade and have made memories that will keep me laughing through the next.

I’ve said over the years: “When I started I didn’t know anything about wide-format digital print, and now I can’t imagine a life without it.” I still can’t. I will miss this part of the print industry deeply and am so grateful for the connections I’ve made, experiences I’ve had, and prints I’ve seen.

I’ll be cheering you all on from afar and can’t wait to see what’s next for your businesses, the industry, and Big Picture.
