Condit, based in Chicago, provides printed graphics and walls for an average of 300 to 400 tradeshow booths per year. To help the company be more sustainable and better break down their materials, they partnered with Vycom in 2021. The Vycom Recycling Program is designed to recycle printed and unprinted PVC, acrylic sheets, and PE products, as well as scraps and drops from finishing and fabricating.
According to Donnie MacDonald, Condit’s VP, the company produces around 40,000 square feet of direct to substrate prints and an equal amount of printed and applied vinyl prints per year. Approximately 35 palletized cardboard gaylords of (mostly) PVC have been collected so far. This is more than one and a half 53-foot tractor-trailers of pallets, according to Condit.
“This recycling program is a no-brainer that fits within our overall sustainability philosophy very well; the less material sent to the landfill, the better,” says MacDonald. “It is tough to keep “reduce, re-use, recycle” at the forefront and we try to do everything we can to offset the challenges within the temporary nature of our industry.”
