For the last two decades, James and Karla Murray, New York City-based photographers, have worked to visually document the mom-and-pop stores that often serve as the heart of a neighborhood in the Big Apple’s boroughs. Due to rising rent, many of these small, family-run operations (bodegas, newsstands, delis, etc.) have closed. The couple created Mom-and-Pops of the LES, a lifelike art installation in New York’s Seward Park, which raises awareness of the plight of many of these small businesses.

Unique Visuals NY was tasked with printing the four 8 x 12-foot storefront images with an Epson SureColor S60600 onto 3M Controltac Graphic Film IJ180 with Avery Dennison DOL 6060 anti-graffiti overlaminate. The vinyl graphics were mounted on 3A Composites Dibond aluminum composite material and then attached to a wooden framework onsite to create the displayed structures.
