The TDS DoubleProof automated dual-sided imposition and single-sided color proofing system is built around a Hewlett-Packard Designjet 5000 wide-format inkjet printer equipped with a device that automatically reloads imposed and printed sheets for printing on the reverse side.
The 42-in. wide printer, which is optimized for use with DuPont's Digital Dylux certified media, can output four to five B1-sized doubled-sided proofs per hours. This means that in an hour, the printer can output the imposed pages from a 64-page publication. These pages can then be folded in dummies, enabling clients to check all page elements on a one-off “preview” of what the final publication will look like. TDS VersoProof is a rebranded version of a system developed by Troika in Europe. VersoProof's software interface can be used to convert an Epson 10000 or Epson 9600 wide-format inkjet printer into a double-sided imposition proofer.
