Smugmug Debuts Online Site for Professional Photographers

One of the most vexing design challenges facing printer OEMs is how to control the rate at which the ink dries as the carrier fluid (water, solvent, etc.) evaporates. First, steps must be taken to keep the ink from drying out in the nozzles of the printhead, because clogged nozzles can cause visible lines (“banding”) in the printed graphics. Then, to increase throughput speeds, inkjet printer engineers have to make sure that the ink dries quickly enough to allow the printed graphics to be rolled up on a take-up reel at the desired rate of speed without smudging.
