The die-hard Seahawks fans at FastSigns of Kirkland, Washington, have begun prepping for the upcoming Super Bowl by creating and printing “12th-man” banner signs for fans to show their support.
“Initially we came up with the idea of printing these banners in support of our Seahawks out of sheer excitement for this weekend’s game,” says Greg Shugarts, co-owner of the Kirkland FastSigns. “They have been a really good customer of ours for many years and we are just so ecstatic they have come this far this season. Our city of Kirkland was the original home for the Seahawk’s headquarters – all the more reason we want to stand behind them and show them that they have the best fans around.”
The shop is utilizing two different printers in producing the 3 x 4-foot banners: its HP Scitex FB700 UV printer as well as its Mutoh ValueJet eco-solvent machine. All of the signs are being output onto 13-ounce Key Banner from Grimco.
After printing several of the signs for interested customers, the FastSigns team decided to use the opportunity to raise money for another local organization: Seattle Children’s Hospital.
“For every 12th-man sports sign we’re able to sell, we are donating 50 percent of the proceeds to the Children’s Hospital,” explains Brent Pettersen, co-owner of FastSigns of Kirkland. The shop’s original goal was to sell 200 of the banners in order to donate a total of $3500 to the hospital; as this article is written, Kirkland FastSigns had sold 214 signs – “and as word continues to spread, I would imagine we’ll hit 250 or more by end of the week.”
Of note: FastSigns Kirkland also produces all of the locker nameplates for the Seakawks (see images).
