The SGIA Board of Directors has voted to change the association's name to the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA). The association, formerly the Screen Printing and Graphic Imaging Association, will still go by the acronym “SGIA” and will continue to support screen printing and digital imaging.
SGIA President Michael Robertson says that with the name change, SGIA will increase the depth and dimension of its offerings by drawing on expertise and resources from the Screen Printing Technical Foundation (SPTF) such as SPTF Work Instructions for screen printers, managerial surveys and reports, and adding support services similar in format to the recently introduced Garment Decorator's Information Resource Center.
He further noted that the Digital Printing & Imaging Association and its website will continue to be a growing resource of industry opinion and expertise–containing such resources as the DPI Product of the Year and the new SGIA/DPI Electronic Imaging Resource Center.
Robertson stresses that although the association's name is changing, its purpose and mission are not. “SGIA is committed to screen printing and digital printing. These two technologies will be key to our membership for many years to come. The SGIA organization, drawing on the focused efforts of SPTF and DPI, is uniquely qualified to support our core technologies as they continue to develop and bring new opportunities to our membership.” (Specialty Graphic Imaging Association: www.sgia.org; Digital Printing & Imaging Association: www.dpia.org)
