Seal Graphics Americas Corp. has introduced its Seal EP 42 laminator, a multiple-application machine capable of hot or cold mounting or laminating up to 43-in. wide. The new machine can handle sheet-fed encapsulating at speeds up to 9 ft/min, and can handle pressure-sensitive operations with substrates up to 1/2-in. thick at speeds up to 13 ft/min.
For heat-activated applications, the EP 42 uses heated Teflon-coated rollers that are positioned just prior to the main roller nip. These rollers heat the film while the main rollers apply the pressure required to bond the film to the media. This two-step, inline process helps ensure consistent heat distribution across the entire film surface, even at higher operating speeds, says Seal.
In addition, the EP 42 features two auto-grip supply shafts, a sliding idler roller that moves out of the way, a color-coded application-guide and nip-adjustment lever, a Teflon-coated print guide, X-axis in-line slitters, a bar-mounted Y-axis in-line slitter, and more.
To help reduce energy costs, the EP 42 has a special stand-by mode for when the machine is on but idle during the production day. List price: $8495. (Seal Graphics Americas: www.sealgraphics.com)
