Scitex Vision Rolls Out GoJet

Launched at ISA, Scitex Vision's GOjet is a roll-to-roll, solvent-based printer that accommodates media up to 11.2 ft wide and offers 4-color printing. The new printer, says Scitex Vision, is designed as a low-cost option for creating wall murals, building covers, flex-face billboards, fleet graphics, and other outdoor, superwide applications.

The GoJet offers five printing speeds. Scitex Vision notes that speed varies according to the selected print mode, and is not dependent on printing resolution. The GoJet can reach speeds of 701 sq ft/hr in 2- pass mode; 363 sq ft/hr in 4-pass mode; and 187 sq ft/hr in 8-pass mode. The printer provides resolutions up to 370 dpi.

It features 24 Xaar 128 drop-ondemand, piezoelectric printheads that use Scitex Vision's VisionInk GO100 Supreme pigmented solvent-based inks. These inks are UV-durable for up to two years.

The GoJet can print on media up to 11.2 ft wide with prints as wide as 10.5 ft. In addition, it has a multiroll system, allowing users to print to two rolls simultaneously, even using narrow media. Users can print the same job on two different rolls (“step and repeat”), or can print different tiles of the same job. The ability to print different tiles particularly comes in handy for fleetgraphics applications, where many tiles need to be printed to cover one vehicle or truck. The GoJet also can handle a variety of media including pressuresensitive vinyl, PVC, mesh, fabrics, flexface banner, and paper.

In addition, the GoJet offers “freefall” output”?allowing the printed media to fall freely, or be cut or collated by a second collector. This feature helps increase production capacity while reducing the time between printing and finishing.
When its hood is down, the GoJet is a closed system, which serves to protect the printheads and create a cleaner shop environment. Other new features in the GOjet include auto-cleaning of the printheads, a “skip white” function that shortens print time by skipping large white areas, and an IR lamp-based drying system.

The GoJet comes standard with the Onyx PosterShop RIP, providing enhanced color management and enabling files to be RIP'd while the operator works on the next file. The front-end software features include automatic maintenance, tiling to columns or rows, color-correction tools, and queues. The system is Windows compatible. The Scitex GoJet is priced at $160,000.
