Roland DGA Corp. has bulked up its EX Series and entered the grand-format market with its SOLJET SJ-1000 EX.
A 4-color piezo printer to which the company has affixed the tagline of “Do More,” the SJ-1000 EX uses Roland's Eco- SOL mild-solvent inks (dual inksets of CCMMYK) in conjunction with an integrated media-heating system to produce prints on media 104 in. wide max and up to 40 mil thick.
To aid print providers in handling the media, Roland has included a heavy-duty media-handling system with idler bars. Capable of supporting roll weights of up to 220 lbs, this system helps maintain proper tension and precise media tracking; it allows front access for convenient loading and unloading.
Not only is the SJ-1000 EX Roland's widest printer ever, but it also has set company speed records as well. The SJ- 1000 EX can print up to 484 sq ft/hr at 360 dpi, and has a maximum resolution of 1440 dpi. It comes standard with Roland's ColorRIP, with a Roland Color- Choice RIP also available as an option.
As with its sister printers”?the 74-in. SJ-740 EX, 64-in. SJ-640 EX, and 54-in. SC- 540 EX”?the SJ-1000 EX can print outdoor graphics onto coated and uncoated materials. Roland's Eco-SOL Media has been tested and profiled for the printer series, and includes a range of uncoated adhesive backed vinyls along with other popular substrates. The EX Series also performs well with all Roland SolJet Certified Media (SCM), and it's compatible with some of the company's PCM, PQM and PGM media.
