Roland has broadened its dye-sub offerings with the Texart XT-640, a 64-in. printer designed to print at speeds up to 1098 sq ft/hr. An upgrade to last year’s Texart RT-640, the printer’s feed adjuster has been improved for more even tensioning and less skewing. It’s intended for the higher-volume production demanded by the fast-fashion industry today, where short runs and one-offs are frequent requests.
Driven by the ErgoSoft Roland Edition RIP and compatible with Roland’s Texart inks, the XT-640 offers orange and violet inks for an expanded color gamut (options are CMYK or CMYKcmOV). In 4-color mode, the machine offers 2 L per color, with a proprietary ink switching system, which makes a backup ink pouch available when the primary pouch runs out. The company’s Texart inks previously earned a Product Class I certification, which ensures ink safety for babies and toddlers up to 36 months old.
In addition, using the Printer Assist iPad app, operators can remotely check job progress.
