As the saying goes, “I’ve got friends in low places and I’ve got friends in high places.” But not too many folks have friends who will wrap their cars in their favorite energy drink in exchange for a branding opportunity.

Luckily for a certain Monster Energy Drink fan, Sean Tomlin, the owner of Designer Wraps (www.designerwraps.com), is that friend.

“This (wrap job) was actually a freebie for a friend who just really likes Monster Energy Drink,” says Tomlin. “In exchange for the wrap, we branded the car with our Designer Wraps logo and he has taken it to many car shows since, including the Philadelphia Auto Show.”

Designer Wraps completed the design, print work, and install in-house in Millville, New Jersey, with approval from Monster Energy, says Tomlin.

A Mutoh ValueJet 1324 printer, the shop’s newest printer at the time, was used to output 180 to 200 square feet of material – Avery Supreme Wrap Film Matte Black was used for the base of the wrap and Avery 1005EZRS with 1360 overlaminate was used for the spot graphics – with eco-solvent inks.

The printing took two hours “since it was spot graphics only on top of the fully wrapped vehicle base,” says Tomlin. The shop laminated the Avery 1005EZRS with its Seal laminator and Avery overlaminate; the graphics were die-cut using a Graphtec Plotter1360. It took two installers eight hours to complete the wrap.

Although friends do become pretty fortunate clients at Designer Wraps, “We have a good split of commercial, fleet customers, and personal vehicle customers – those looking to change the color of their car with a vinyl wrap,” says Tomlin.
