Recap: One Canon Event

One Canon Event, held February 12-14 in Hollywood, Florida, brought together nearly 50 digital print industry analysts and journalists to engage with Canon leaders, customers, and business partners, and to learn more about Canon’s future in the digital print world.

The three-day event included presentations, panel discussions, networking opportunities, one-on-one interviews, and a visit to Canon’s Customer Experience Center in Boca Raton, Florida. At the center, attendees were able to witness the Océ Colorado 1640 printer in action as it ran three different jobs in three different modes on two different media in under seven minutes using UVgel ink (say that five times fast.)

During the tour, John Kaufman, senior marketing specialist, Canon Solutions America, was asked what Canon customers are using the Océ Colorado for most. He said, “Versatility in media is expanding applications for aqueous graphics printers, but what’s trending right now are wallcoverings and .”

Later in the conference, Adam Carver, president of Varsity Graphics powered by Pixelwerx, took to the stage for a customer panel session. There he discussed his biggest challenge as a print shop owner: having multiple printers from different companies. “Color consistency is different printer to printer,” he said.

Big Picture also received one-on-one time with Sal Sheikh, VP, marketing, large format solutions. See below for some highlights:
