A new Xtensions software for QuarkXPress 6 (or later) is QuarkXClusive for designing customized documents on Mac OS X systems. Designers can more easily produce variable-data printing projects using Xclusive, since this XTension is capable of integrating databases or spreadsheets into a graphic design for output by an HP Indigo press. In addition, QuarkXClusive can set up impositions or imposed books for any job type.
By using Xclusive, designers can now create pieces, for instance, that select products based on a customer's previous purchases, add a specific sales rep's contact information, and insert a special offer just for that customer, using database information. On these jobs, the static information and fonts will RIP only once for faster processing. The designer designates rules for swapping out design or other elements and specifies all prepress/imposition settings needed for output, including standard marks, bleed, registration colors, and more.
