PrintFactory Goes Full Penguin at FESPA with Linux Support

PrintFactory :  a truly cross-platform wide format workflow

With the addition of Linux’s ‘Tux’ penguin to its virtual packaging, this announcement makes PrintFactory software unique among competitors. Teams can still benefit from the user-friendly front-ends of MacOS and Windows-oriented software, but businesses will be in a better position to harness the computing power of Linux.

“Most teams prefer preparing jobs on Windows or MacOS machines. It’s what they’re used to using, and in most cases, you’ll find teams running design software that’s geared to those operating systems – so it does make sense. But Linux is a real workhorse, so it’s ideally suited for use as a RIP server. Our software now supports environments where all three different operating systems are working together with ease,” says Erik Strik, CEO of PrintFactory.

Plug-and-play shipping with OEM devices

Operators can rest assured, front-end applications will all run smoothly in this mixed operating-system environment. It’s a powerful integrated workflow. But this also means that printer manufacturers can ship the PrintFactory engine inside their devices, integrated in an off-the-shelf package, which delivers a truly plug-and-play solution at scale.

This SaaS-model suite of productivity-improving software tools for wide format printing has the ability to deliver optimum interoperability for industrial scale operations – and should eliminate the everyday headaches caused by complex systems simply not talking to each other.

Market-leading features now work across all operating systems

PrintFactory’s workflow software includes feature-rich tools that will work across all three operating systems. These include editing tools that speed up the production process; nesting and tiling tools that offer superior flexibility for the teams using them; and a world-class color engine using a device-link that can guarantee the right color, across all media, and devices. In addition, the software has been designed to be ‘one click’ wherever possible, with in-app tools that make life easier for users.

“We were printers before we became software developers,” says Erik, “so we know what the real headaches can be on the production floor. It’s simple things that slow you down – like not having connectivity between operating systems, or having to use several pieces of design software to get one simple job done.”

Software made by printers who understand printers’ everyday challenges

Erik continues, “When you’ve got problems editing a file… when you know you’re wasting ink and media, trying to get the color right… nobody wants extra problems, like pieces of software that won’t talk to each other. We understand that teams want software they know, and the businesses want to use an operating system that will handle their processing needs. Our support for Linux is a natural next step – making sure we cover all the bases for our customers.”

PrintFactory is delivered via a network of distributors, worldwide. With a unique approach to sales via the SaaS model, and software already offering more features than competitors’, this addition of support for Linux servers means the software has even broader appeal for wide format printers of all kinds – particularly in industrial scale operations, and for any producer that’s using clustered computing. End users and distributors can find out more by visiting PrintFactory on stand B5-G31 at FESPA Global Print Expo in Munich, 14th – 17th May.

PrintFactory is a suite of award-winning, workflow software that helps wide format printers to work more efficiently today and prepare for more advanced levels of automation tomorrow. Simply put, the team are printers themselves, delivering competition-beating software that makes it possible for every wide format printer to build a better business: better printing for their customers, better profits for themselves. More details at www.printfactory.cloud
