Walk This Way
I was once asked to visit a building contractor customer to see their truck that needed graphics. When I arrived, a sales rep from another shop was there. When he found out I was a competitor and the job just entailed some door decals he got angry, said he couldn’t do the job for less than $800 and he didn’t like it that I was there, and then he stormed off. As he walked away, I laughed and said I was pretty sure I could beat his price. They were happy because they had 15 trucks that needed decals. The following year, they bought a whole new fleet of 23 vehicles and did full wraps on all of them. I’ve always believed that small jobs lead to big jobs, and that sometimes my competitors are my best salespeople.
