Print & Graphics Scholarship Foundation Announces 2023 T-Shirt and Poster Contest Winners

(PRESS RELEASE) PITTSBURGH, PA — The Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF), a nonprofit organization working to build the future workforce of the graphic communications industry through educational scholarships, announces the winners of the 2023 PGSF Poster and T-Shirt design contests, chosen from over 300 contest entries. Thank you to the judges for taking the time to judge these entries.

The winner of the full-time student poster is Charlie Wright, a student at Salt Lake Community College! Charlie’s comment on learning he won the award; “I’m honored to receive this award! It’s beyond flattering to have my work recognized by such an amazing organization”.

Voting was close for the part-time student poster and the winner is Joy Kanenari from Saddleback Community College, located in San Juan Capistrano, CA. “I’m thrilled to have won this award. Creating art has always been a passion of mine, but Graphic Design is fairly new to me, so this has given me the confidence boost to keep furthering my skills and continue pursuing a career in design”, said Joy.

PGSF received over 90 t-shirt design entries this year. “I have known that I wanted to be a graphic designer since the 5th grade, so it is truly an honor to receive this award based on my work. I cannot wait to receive a higher education in my dream career field, and I greatly appreciate all the work the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation does to make dreams like mine become a reality.” said Emma Goggans, winner of the T-Shirt Contest. Emma attends Northeast Alabama Community College.

The t-shirt and posters will be produced and available at the 2023 Printing United Expo being held this October in Atlanta, GA. These are showcased throughout the year to promote the many PGSF scholarships available to students. The full-time poster provides scholarship information for students attending secondary education on a full-time basis who are pursuing a career in graphic communications. PGSF also offers scholarships for students attending school part-time as well as employees currently working in the industry looking to obtain financial assistance to enroll in part-time classes and advance their careers.

Once again, this year, several high school and college educators included the poster and t-shirt competition in their lesson plans. “PGSF would like to thank and acknowledge the instructors who include the poster and t-shirt competition in their lesson plans each year,” said Dianne Bullas, Director of Operations for PGSF.

Information on the 2023/24 PGSF poster and t-shirt competition will be emailed this fall and posted on the PGSF website.
