Over the years, Adobe Photoshop has evolved into an extremely comprehensive graphics program, with tools and features for use in a wide range of applications. Screen printers who want to use Photoshop to its fullest extent in their operations may be interested in a new book entitled, “Photoshop 7.0 for Screen Printers.” The book's author, Joli Ballew, uses Photoshop in her own screen-printing business, North Texas Graphics in Dallas.
The book starts with an overview of the toolbox, menu bar, and palettes, and then proceeds to concentrate on topics such as creating artwork and logos, acquiring images from clients, importing and exporting images, and working with clip art and special effects.
In addition, book describes how to create and print separations for spot colors, process colors, indexed colors, and simulated process colors. Ballew also explains the differences between specialty films and vellums, inkjet and PostScript printers, and when and why to use them.
Other topics covered include the pros and cons of using spot color, process color, sublimation, heat transfers, and other printing technologies.
