Inkjet International was tapped by CBS Outdoor to produce a wallscape for eHarmo¬ny.com, the popular online dating website, as the company celebrated its 10th anni¬versary. The ad appeared in New York City’s Times Square beginning in mid-August and supported eHarmony’s new advertising campaign, “Love Begins Here.”
“On an average day in the United States, 542 people who met through eHarmony get married,” says Paul Breton, eHarmony’s director of communications. “Earlier this year, eHarmony invited married, engaged, and dating couples to share photos of their lives together. More than 3000 eHarmony success couples from all over the world shared more than 14,000 photos with us.”
eHarmony took 6000 of those photos and had its advertising agency, DonatWald+Haque, commission a photo-mosaic billboard of the images for use in the anniversary ad. Interestingly, the company that designed the mosaic—Picture Mosaics—is owned by a man who met his wife on eHarmony. Picture Mosaics cre¬ated the image for the billboard, as well as an online interactive version that contains all of the photos that were submitted.
Inkjet International used its HP Scitex XP5300 with Caldera RIP and HP UV inks to image onto its proprietary inkjet vinyl, Inkjet Import. The company printed the wallscape in five panels of 16 x 75 feet, then welded the panels together, as well as the sides, with a Miller Weldmaster T-112 65 industrial welder; final size of the graphics was 68 x 72 feet.
Inkjet International also added pole pockets to help with installation. “CBS Outdoor installed it themselves. The company is fully equipped with a crane that it puts on a smaller skyscraper. From there they hoist it onto the billboard on top of the taller building,” explains Jittu Sarna, president of Inkjet International.
