Onyx Graphics Announces Version X10 Production RIP Products

Onyx Graphics has announced the availability of version X10 of its production RIP products: Onyx ProductionHouse, PosterShop, and RIPCenter.

New features on version X10 include an improved profiling process (ProductionHouse only) and automated print-and-cut workflow; an improved native PDF, PostScript, and raster image processing engine (for more reliable file handling and reproduction of images from Macintosh and PC-based creative applications); Smart 16-bit processing technology; and Pantone’s new Pantone Plus Series spot color matching system.

Specifics on the new features:
• Flexible and automated print-and-cut workflow: Users can easily and quickly build workflows for print-and-cut jobs using Quick Sets for storing cutter parameters; and users can save time and reduce production costs with unattended printing and automatic nesting of images. Users can also save time by eliminating the need to return to the design application to fix unwanted cut paths and manage multiple cutting styles in Cut-Server.

• Improved profiling process: X10 features a new automated color-profiling system, allowing for media profiles to be built in minutes, reports Onyx. The Profile Build options offer the ability to use dynamic or custom-defined ICC presets; new Enhanced Color gamut mapping provides the ability to achieve vivid color output. Users can fine-tune output color with new advanced Black Diamond tools.

• Better file handling and enhanced user interface: A streamlined Quick Set user interface allows for easy build of workflow automation. Smart 16-bit processing provides for better color while maintaining production speed. Job-based RIP options enable increased automation and reduction in errors. X10 also features Onyx Links Web customer support integration and native PDF and Postscript raster image processing.

• Job logging and tracking: Also included is Onyx PrintMetryxT JobView service, an advanced job log that enables on-line tracking of job costs and resource usage. Each print job contains a thumbnail image, detailed information about the print job, and costs for ink and media.
