Mutoh America has introduced the Falcon Outdoor Junior, a 36-in. version (print width) of its standard Falcon Outdoor printer. Like its larger predecessors, the Junior uses piezo technology and Mutoh Eco-Solvent Plus inks. It offers print speeds of 156 sq ft/hr at 360 x 180 dpi; 39 sq ft/hr at 720 x 720 dpi; and 7 sq ft/hr at 1440 x 1440 dpi. Mutoh ISIS Print Manager and Mutoh edition RIP Center software are included. Due to begin shipping in June, the Falcon Junior is priced at $10,995. The company is also bundling the Junior with a Mutoh Ultima 850 vinyl cutter for $13,995.
In other news, Mutoh America announced that:
- It has widened its Falcon Outdoor 46-in. printer, enabling it to now handle 48-in. media. “All Falcon Outdoor printers are based on the Falcon Plus indoor printer and the 46-in. width was targeted at 44-in. media,” says Guy Cipresso, vice president/general manager of Mutoh America. “Now that the target is outdoor, transitioning to 48-in. media width adds much more value. The Falcon Outdoor 48 in. can now accommodate every popular adhesive-backed vinyl width.” The newly expanded Falcon Outdoor is priced at $10,995; shipments began in April.
- Effective April 1, it has dropped prices on a range of its printers. The Falcon II Indoor 50-in. will now sell for $18,995 (formerly $19,995); the Falcon II Indoor 64-in. will sell for $23,995 (formerly $26,995); the Falcon II Indoor 64-in. High Productivity will sell for $28,995 (formerly $31,995); the Falcon II Indoor 87-in. High Productivity will sell for $33,995 (formerly $36,995); and the Toucan 87-in. 6-color will sell for $99,995 (formerly $129,995).
- The company has designed a training program in conjunction with the Graphics Intelligence Agency (GIA), offering Mutoh customers information on workflow, hardware, software, ink, and media. Initially offered for Mutoh's Falcon Outdoor and Falcon Outdoor II products, the programs run 2 days and are held either on-site or at GIA training centers in Cleveland, OH or San Diego, CA.
