Mutoh has introduced its Eco-Solvent Ultra inks, which are now shipping with its Falcon Outdoor as well its Toucan LT and LT Board printers. Building on the company's Eco-Solvent Plus inks, the new Eco-Solvent Ultra inks feature faster drying time, higher density, wider color gamut, improved scratch resistance, lower cost per sq ft, and a broadened uncoated media support.
In addition, Mutoh reports that the Ultra ink is “virtually odorless, and does not require any special ventilation or environmental equipment.”
Meanwhile, Mutoh Europe has begun shipping the new Rockhopper 3 eco-solvent printer, which also utilizes the new Eco-Solvent Ultra inks, into Europe, the Middle East, and Africa only. Available in 65- or 90-in. models, the Rockhopper 3 offers several new features: a newly designed unwinder/winder 100 system for optimum media guidance; 8-color channels, allowing for speed mode (2 x CMYK) or photo-enhanced mode (CMYKcm); and a left cover that opens for periodic maintenance.
With three print modes from 360 x 360 to 1440 x 1440 dpi, the Rockhopper 3 boasts typical production print speeds of 140 sq ft/hr at 360 dpi on uncoated banner materials.
The Rockhopper 3 offer Mutoh's Dynamic Variable Dot imaging technology with ink drops that vary between 5.4 to 41.5 ng. It also features four built-in digitally controlled heating elements as well as a fully motorized heavy-duty unwinding/winding system for media rolls up to 220 lb.
