Mutoh America has answered the request for a smaller version of its 87-in. wide Hi-Productivity Falcon II aqueous-ink printer for indoor graphics. A new 64-in. model is now available for applications such as high-resolution photo enlargement, fine-art reproduction, exhibit graphics, and 3D and motion graphics.
Capable of printing in 4-, 6-, or 8-color modes, the Hi-Productivity Falcon II is equipped with eight piezoelectric printheads. To achieve smooth gradients and fine detail, these printheads use variable-dot technology to adjust the size of ink droplets fired from their nozzles. Mutoh offers a variety of ink-color configurations and a choice of pigment or dye inks. A variety of print speeds and resolutions can be achieved, ranging from under 40 sq ft/hr in the ultra-high-quality mode to 430 sq ft/hr in the fast, 4-color, 360 x 360 dpi mode. Maximum resolution is 1440 x 2880 dpi.
Other features include a 100Base-T Ethernet interface, a 128-MB-image buffer, a motorized take-up system, and automatic ink-level monitoring. Installation and a one-year on-site warranty are included with the $31,995 base price. Available options include a 256-MB image buffer and a 21-GB hard disk. The 87-in. model sells for $36,995.
