Digital-imaging, prepress and graphic-arts pros who only need to create profiles for four-color output devices no longer have to pay extra for capabilities they don't intend to use.
Monaco Systems has retooled its line of color-management software to include two editions of its MonacoPROFILER software. The Gold Edition ($2950) is primarily for users for output devices that use no more than four process colors; the full-featured Platinum edition ($4250) can create profiles for output devices that use up to 8 process colors. The Platinum edition also supports digital-camera profiling, using GretagMacbeth ColorChecker targets.
All Monaco color-management products now include: support for the X-Rite DTP41B Series II spectrophotometer; reduced patch sets for both RGB (343 patches) and CMYK (378 patches) output devices; MonacoOPTIX colorimeter support for both CRT and LCD profiling; and improved LCD monitor profiles.
Both MonacoProfiler Gold and Platinum include enhanced profile editing and ECI (European Color Initiative) color test chart support.
In conjunction with Monaco's introduction of its Gold Edition of MonacoProfiler, X-Rite announced X-RiteColor Ensemble Gold, which bundles an X-Rite DTP41 Series II Spectrophotometer with the Gold Edition of MonacoProfile software and a MonacoOPTIX or X-Rite Monitor Optimizer (DTP92) color-measurement instrument for monitor calibration.
