Mimaki Engineers Thermoformable UV Ink

Mimaki has announced LUS-350 UV-LED ink, designed for thermoforming applications such as automotive components, molded signs, and prototypes. The ink is scratch- and dimple-resistant after printing and, when heated, transforms into a pliable state with the potential for up to 350% elongation, according to the company. When cooled, it returns to a hard, crack-resistant surface; Mimaki says it will also retain multiple printed layers. Compatible materials include PETG, acrylic, polycarbonate, polystyrene, and PVC. Available in 1-L bottles for use on Mimaki’s JFX200-2513 (CMYK + white) and UJF-7151 plus (CMYK + white + clear) flatbed printers.
