I Misinterpreted the Client’s Request for Quotation – and I Paid the Price

Similar to the movie “The Spinal Tap,” I once received a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a 48 x 96 banner. I quoted the banner, and we were awarded the job. But, just like “Spinal Tap,” I assumed the dimensions were in inches a la 48” x 96.” I assumed wrong. The request was for dimensions in feet a la 48’ x 96.’ We honored the quote, but it was a painful experience and to this day I only ever communicate in inches only.
