Western Graphtec has added two new 40-in.
color scanners”?the CS400 and CS300.
The 24-bit color CS400 and the 8-bit color
CS300 can both scan images up to 52 ft long
at resolutions up to 600 dpi, and both offer
speeds up to 9 in./sec (for monochrome
images) and 3 in./sec (color images).
These scanners employ Contact Array
Image Sensor technology to produce accurate,
high-resolution scans that eliminate
optical distortions common to CCD technology.
In addition, they decrease recalibration
and do not require any warm-up time.
The CS400 can scan color photographs,
graphics, and detailed architechtural drawings, and is compatible with sRGB color
space. The CS300 is designed for GIS, mapping,
and document-archiving applications.
The scanners feature Graphtec's Scanning
Master 21+ software, which includes
a scan-to-print function so it can be combined
with a wide-format printer. The software
also allows scan-to-print, scan-to-file,
scan-to-e-mail, and scan-to-copy
functions, and supports a wide variety of
file formats. FireWire and USB connections,
and automatic energy-saving mode,
as well as a sliding document guide (for
accurate alignment) are included. The US Street price is CS400-$13,995; CS300-$11,995. (Western Graphtec: www.graphtecusa.com)
