Each fall brewmeisters from around the globe gleefully roll out
barrels of their best beers for the more than 650,000 thirsty people
seeking fun at Oktoberfest Zinzinnati. Prince von Bayern of Germany,
whose family has a 700-year history of beers sales, and Cincinnati-based
Warsteiner Importers chose the Cincinnati, OH-based festival as the site
to introduce the US market to Konig Ludwig, a beer that's been
available in Germany since 1260.
Local exhibit designer Hans Papke was hired to create an
attention-getting display that could be reused at various festivals
throughout the year. He built an framing structure from which graphics
were hung to camouflauge the beer-dispensing truck. The graphics, drawn
by Evelyn Daumeyer of EC Designs of Hebron, KY, replicated the look of
the Prince's castle in Germany and incorporated images from the
Prince's annual jousting tournament. To give beer tasters a shady
place to socialize while quaffing the beer, Daumeyer and Papke also
designed a complementary festival tent. Cincinnati-based graphics
producer Harlan Graphics output the graphics on an Oce Arizona 500
solvent-ink-system inkjet printer. The appealing graphics helped the
Koning Ludwig beer truck sell more beer than its largest competitor.
