Encad has introduced two new Kodak wide-format inkjet media”?a water-resistant removable vinyl, and a water-resistant scrim banner. The two media are capable of being used for a wide variety of indoor/outdoor applications, including retail signage, point-of-purchase displays, and exhibit graphics.
The Water-Resistant Removable Vinyl is a calendared vinyl with a pressure-sensitive, removable, repositionable adhesive. It can be removed without damaging the surface or leaving residue for up to 6 months, and has excellent water resistance and light stability, reports Encad.
The company's new Water-Resistant Scrim Banner is made of a tear-resistant polyester fabric embedded between two layers of calendared white vinyl. The polyester scrim center creates a “blockout layer” to provide 100% opacity. Available to users of thermal as well as piezo inkjet systems, the media boasts brilliant colors and a bright white base. It can be sewn, grommeted, and draped.
Both media have been tested and are guaranteed to work across all major inkjet printers, including HP and Epson. Outdoor images on the Water-Resistant Removable Vinyl are guaranteed up to 7 months unlaminated and 1 year laminated with NovaJet 1000i Quantum pigmented inks (1 year indoor with Quantum dye inks, when laminated). The Water-Resistant Scrim Banner is guaranteed for up to 2 years indoors when used with Encad Quantum dye and pigmented inks, when laminated. (Encad: www.encad.com)
