Eizo Nanao Technologies Introduces the ColorEdge CG245W

Eizo Nanao Technologies has unveiled the ColorEdge CG245W, a 24.1-in. LCD monitor that houses a built-in calibration device in its upper bezel that swings down at user-scheduled times, eliminating the need for a third-party external calibration device. The computer itself is not necessary for self-calibration. By using the scheduling function in the on-screen display menu or the bundled ColorNavigator calibration software, the CG245W can be scheduled to self-calibrate at a specific time and at specific intervals including when the computer is turned off and the user is not present. Since self-calibration is performed independent of the computer, a calibrated CG245W can be used with any operating system, even if not supported by ColorNavigator.

The CG245W uses an IPS (in-plane switching) LCD panel with a native resolution of 1920° – 1200 (16:10 aspect ratio) and reproduces 98% of the Adobe RGB color space. Maximum brightness is 270 cd/m2, contrast ratio is 850:1, and the viewing angles are 178°.

The company also unveiled two additional monitors in its ColorEdge series of LCD monitors: the 30-in. ColorEdge CG303W and the 22-in. ColorEdge CG223W, both designed for still- and moving-image work such as prepress, digital photography, video editing, and post production. Both monitors offer hardware calibration so the monitors themselves are calibrated rather than the computer’s graphics card; this ensures no color tones are lost in the calibration process and results in more predictable on-screen color, Eizo reports. The company has outfitted both monitors with ergonomic stands.
The ColorEdge CG303W features an in-plane switching LCD panel with a native resolution of 2560° – 1600 (16:10 aspect ratio) and reproduces 98% of the Adobe RGB color space. The maximum brightness is 260 cd/m2, contrast ratio is 850:1, and the viewing angles are 178°. Dual DVI-D (digital) inputs are included for connection to two PCs.

The CG223W uses a VA (vertical alignment) panel LCD panel with a native resolution of 1680° – 1050 (16:10 aspect ratio) and reproduces 95% of the Adobe RGB color space. It has a maximum brightness of 270 cd/m2, contrast ratio of 950:1, and viewing angles of 178°. DisplayPort and dual digital/analog DVI-I inputs are included for connection to three PCs.
