The Job

Signage donning the phrase “wash your hands” is no longer contained to public restrooms. As the Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) spreads, news outlets, public figures, social media users, and businesses are reminding the population of the importance of washing your hands during this time. Rush University Medical Center (rush.edu) in Chicago decided to take it one step further by printing and installing wide-format signage on the interior of the building’s windows with the message #WashYourHands.

The hospital called upon print service provider Cushing (cushingco.com) and Skender Construction (skender.com) to help share the message as quickly as possible. Skender and Rush developed the print-ready files; Cushing stayed open during the weekend to print the graphics with its Canon ImageProGraf iPF9400 onto 32-point construction grade bond paper and contour cut it on a Zund G3 L2500 digital cutter.

“Signage continues to be an effective method to share messaging to large groups of people,” says Joe Cushing, EVP. “The ‘real-time’ messaging – the actual #WashYourHands – will be seen by thousands of people who live in Chicagoland. And it will also be viewed by thousands online, too, shared as photos, articles, and content. Signage enhances both online and offline awareness. And we need that more than ever right now.”
